The Easyriders of HSL-37 Detachment Five came on board prior to the successful completion of RIMPAC 86 and remained an integral part of the BREWTON ASW force for all of WESTPAC "86-87". Despite the loss and gain of key personnel throughout the cruise, Easyrider 55 continued to be flexible in its multimission tasking or simulating terrorist assault aircraft for Battle Group "C" exercises. DET 5 effectively and professionally answered the call of "Launch Lamps".

When a ship goes out to sea for a while she has an Air-DET crew that comes onboard and becomes part of the ship's company. This time was no different. HSL-37 came onboard with their experience and determination for a Job 1.

Air-DET crew jobs are to extend out ASW Platform, Dawn Patrol and Search and Rescue.
