Time to put my uniforms in dry layup and decommission my Id Card. As I think back to my first Ship the Bubba Bee I have lots of great memories. I will never forget my first day in Hawaii, walking down to Bravo 16 in Pearl Harbor and seeing her. she was like a skinny cat her frames showing thu her thin hull.. Wow almost 27 years to the day I crossed her QD. The navy has changed alot sence 1980 some good some bad. I remember going to Qtrs and looking at the rag tag sailor each of us in a diffrent uniform. utilites, dungrees ball caps dixie cups ironed on crows sewed on crows our last names stenciled or hand written on our shirts. pretty funny. I remember mess cranking, on the mess deck and in the cpo mess. While I was there we did go on two an awesome west pacs, what other ship goes to both sides of OZ on back to back west pacs. that my fellow shipmates was major cool. picking up refugees and spending Chritmas in Hong Kong join the navy and see the world (even tho i was on restriction) darn locker searches will get us everytime... Some great friends, Noland, Novack, Von ferber, Finney, Leo, Rains, Achaso, Newhouse, Devine, Poppie just to name a few I worked with. My pal BTFN Mark Byron. where the hell did he go? vanashed off the face of the earth. if any one knows his were abouts I would like to know. some things I remember from brewton I can neither comform nor deny, I flooding out the XO's state room with CHT the day after he got new carpet.. living in the BEQ while in the yards, could we party enough? Nieto, Deiz, Mason, we were pretty wild. As I look back I have great memoires of that little ship and the impression she made on me. Thanks to the men who gave me that first kick in the butt, Tom Herminson (SP) (CMC) Faruis Farwell, John Tompson, Capt Martin. Capt Bolger. I will be moving on in March of 2008. looking fwd to hearing from you old shipmates Ron
