: : : I am sad to report that Davy Jones now walks the decks of the Holt(FF1074). Brewton operated and moored for many years with this proud ship. She was sunk as part of a RIMPAC exercise off Hawaiian shores on July 17, 2002. Brief story in the July 20 Honolulu Advertiser(.com) under military news. Hello Gary Johnson!
: It is sad.
: A bit of Brewton/Holt trivia. The Brewton was originally scheduled for WestPac the spring of 1975. Work was being done on the main engine nozzle block and the ship yard personel kept screwing up the lapping job on second shift. We were delayed for our WestPac commitment and the Holt got our orders. While the Holt was on WestPac duty, she ended up as part of the team that rescued the Mayaguez (see http://www.henninger.com/Mayaguez/stills.htm). But for sloppy work, the Brewton would have towed the Mayagues back.
if the dog didnt stop to shit,he would have caught the rabbit!
