: Shipmates:
: Thirty years ago this month, a number of us had the fortune to be assigned to and aboard for the commissioning of BREWTON, and thus became forever bonded as fellow "plankowners". I knew we had a special responsibility, as we would be setting the course and establishing the precedent that would be felt long after we left the ship.

: I would like to express by gratitude and appreciation for all my shipmates.....and for the shipmates in spirit that assumed the watch and kept Brewton on course as one of the finest in the fleet.....throughout USS BREWTON's service to the nation. WELL DONE! BRAVO ZULU!

: I've had rare good fortune in life, but having the honor and priviledge of putting BREWTON into commission, and serving as the first CO with such an outstanding team, was a highpoint in a wonderful life. Thanks to all!
