Boatswains Mates, Fire Control Technicians, Gunners Mates, Seamen, Sonarmen and Torpedomen make up the Weapons Department. The ST's kept the sonar pinging and with the TM's they performed well this cruise with successful ASROC and torpedo firings during the ASW exercises. The GM's and FT's kept the 5"/54 firing to keep the Brewton Qualified in NGFS. They also kept the crew familiar with small arms with FAM Firing on the fantail. The BM's and SN's kept the ship going with Bridgewatches, numerous refueling details, wire brushes and cans of grey paint. The Weapons Department showed the fleet that the Brewton is a vessel of war serving as an instrument of peace. | ||
