Electronic Technicians, Electronic Warfare Specialists, Operations Specialists, Radiomen, and Signalmen comprise the Operations Department. This group of people kept the ship informed of what was happening in the fleet and the world. The RM's and SM's received and sent the Brewton's messages. The OS's through radar and radio kept the bridge informed of all surface, subsurface and air movements. Their information assisted in avoiding contacts and launching attacks during the ship's numerous exercises. The EW's with their sophisticated electronics provided additional information towards locating and classifying targets. The ET's and EW's maintained this department's vast electronic systems so the Brewton was able to meet all commitments and show her best.
