OE Division has the responsibility for maintaining the communications equipment, radars, navigational aids, data processing systems and closed circuit television systems. Electronic Materials Officer, ENS Peters, the "aggie-in-the-woodpile", heads the division and earned his Surface Warfare designator during the cruise. The chief warrior, ETC(SW) Bibb, keeps tight rein on the division, coordinating between the various work centers. Running OEO1 work center is ET1(SW) Ray, who earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare designator. Taking time out from re-building antenna couplers and diving the islands, ET3 Carion was presented to the Duke and Duchess of York during the Australian Bicentennial Naval Salute. ET3 Deleon keeps Snap II working in tip-top shape. ET3 Crable maintains the IFF and repeaters in great condition. ET3 Shultz keeps the ship's morale up with movies and news from around the world every night. ET3 Gibbs taught all he knew in radio, prior to his departure in Bali, to ET3 Maidman, the successor to head radio tech. ET3 Langley, joining us is Bunbury, WA, takes over the air search radar. ET3 Reed joined us in PNG, and takes over crypto work from the chief. ET2 McSweeney is the surface search radar tech and DC maintenance man. Along for the ride from USS NEW JERSEY, ET3 Ballesteros, completes the "TWIDGETS".
