Comments: CHENG from '79-'81. Nice to see some of the old snipes still kicking. The SOPAC/WESTPAC CRUISE OF '80-'81 is my fondest memory. Subic Bay to Hobart Tasmania. Only surprise was the SURFPAC OPPE team met us at Pago Pago when coming home. A real coming home party. If you were a snipe during my tenure, say hello.

Comments: I was an Army nurse in Vietnam working on the unit that John Brewton was cared for until his death. I have never forgotten him or the experience of meeting his father and fiance over the Christmas holiday. I was thrilled when I learned from the Virtual Wall website that a frigate had been named for him and that his parents and fiance had been there for the commissioning. I thought about looking up information about the USS Brewton and have really enjoyed seeing the ship and learning about it's history and especially learning more about John Brewton.

Comments: Wow It was wonderful to find this site! Great Job! I served on the "Bubba Bee" from Oct 76 until Sep 78. In Oct 93 it was a sad day for me to be in "Gitmo" and see the Brewton sailing out under a forigen flag. Well I guess it was better to see her still sailing knowing that many more people will have wonderful memories from the "Bubba Bee" Rather than see her scraped. I would welcome any E-mails from old shipmates.

Comments: Served on the Bubba Bee from Sept 77 to Sept 78. This is a great Web Page, thank you. It has brought back many memories. I retired from the Navy, February 1995 after 20 great years and every day I miss what the Navy gave me. On the wall in my office I have pictures of all the ships I served on, and I love to talk to my clients about them all when they ask about, each ship. Looking forward to the reunion next year.

Bubba was a great guy and I'm sure he richly deserves to have this fine ship named in his honor.

Comments: I was a Sonar Tech on the USS Badger "The Bucky B"(FF1071) form 1988-1991. Knox's are the best, tightest and most loyal crews around. Why aren't there any web pages devoted the the KNOX class. P.S. Thanks to the Brewton STG's for the parts they always loaned us!

Comments: Very impressive web page indeed. I dealt with Knox-class Sailors often when I was based in Sasebo, Japan. They'd sail into town and their crewmen would ask me (I was a JO2 assigned to the base AFRTS station) where to go in town. They were much better behaved than carrier sailors. I liked the Knox-class, which had that odd "mack" which looked like a champagne cork, atop their hull. I guess the most famous Knox was USS Pharris, which starred in a Tom Clancy novel. You might want to check out my small contribution to naval history at: http://www.flash.net/~hfwright/dl_index.htm It's a day-by-day history of World War II. I've been working on it for two years. I sailed on FF 1090 for three years in the mid-80's and it was the greatest time of my naval career. If you have any info on how to set up one of these site I would be inrterested. Comments: I was a chinese navy sailor who served on ROCS Chih-Yang, FF-932 (EX-Robert E. Peary, FF-1073), during Dec 1992 to Aug 1994. Fong-Yang, FF-933 (EX-Brewton, FF-1086), was another ship which we introduced from the U.S.Navy at the same time. So I am very much familiar with these ships (also including ROCS Feng-Yang, FF-934, "EX-Kirk, FF-1087"). I am glad to see the Brewton's homepage on the Internet. Is there any one can build a homepage for Peary (FF-1073)?

Comments: I was part of the crew that was commissioned when it was the USS-Brewton. I was an IC-man. At the commissioning I walked up to Admiral Zumwaldt and his wife shook their hands and talked a little bit. I liked being stationed in Hawaii. The Brewton took me to Hong Kong, Phillippines, Kau-shung (spelling?). I really liked Singapore. Right at movie time in the evening the announcement would come over the ship's PA "Rosie's Fish & Chips is here". Those fish & chips sprinkled with salt and malt vinegar--wrapped in newspaper..It was the BEST!!!

I also had two good friends, MR1 John McGee and GMM1 Ernie Bernard (83-84), and visited the ship a few times. I was "almost" sent there TAD to fill a shortage of IC men prior to their 1984 deployment, but that never happened. Anyway, keep up the good work. Rob Callaway
